Does anyone here have an opinion on whether certain (any) circuits within the 8-circuit model can, because of activation, inhibit the activation of other ciruits? Based simply on the nature of neuro-structure/-function and my opinion (though seemingly with a good deal of evidence) that the 8-circuit model has quite a strong neurological parallel (eg. is an appropriate model of consciousness), I'm feel as though there must be some inhibitions upon activation.
The brain does it all the time with neurons (ex. purkinje cells are inhibitory neurons in the cerebellum, responsible for very fine (thusly filtered (inhibited) motor movements)).
Anyway, what do you guys think?
What did Leary say? Wilson? I feel like Wilson said that he thought circuit high (ha... haha...) circuit 5 activation prevents circuit 6 or 7 activation. Maybe it was 6 to 7 and 8. I don't remember or remember where I read or heard that (an interview perhaps).
-Peace.

Re: Intra-8-Circuit Inhibitors
Sat, November 3, 2007 - 5:58 PMhmmm, i don't know about this... the 8-circuit metaphor seems like it can sometimes be confusing (at least to me and a few others i know) - in that its semantic structure almost seems to emphasise 8 separate, hierarchical 'computer-game' levels, experientially its not quite that clear cut...
it certainly seems to me that if one's first or second circuits are threatened and flailing about, then activity from circuits 3 and higher becomes somewhat twisted/disrupted by the ungrounded 'animal' fighting for its life... -

Re: Intra-8-Circuit Inhibitors
Sat, November 3, 2007 - 7:54 PMsounds like good discussion...
wondering how in depth your biochemistry is? i know basics and here and there facts, occasional articles on pyrimadine(sp?) and thc plus endogenous cannabinol..
but not a PhD by any means....
i have recently been trying to find good discussion on whether Lill'y Caulron-Circuit parallel is based on hard facts/chemistry
maybe it would fit in with your path? i do not know of any inhibition , Leary presented it as a direct path up to 8 in sequence.. but so many questions
the chemicals and dosage levels are so mixed that it seems hard to even classify it like that..
it's more like, if the effect is true, then it was a circuit trigger
but I think they were more rigorous than that...
in other words, i think circuit 5 probably is best defined as "the belly brain"... which is the lower taoist cauldron.. i have to posit that there is a more intense three d array of endogenous cannibinol receptors along this nerve network.. i have a copy of the belly brain but have not read it..
maybe so maybe not..
circuit 6 seems to me best defined as what the buddhists call the 64 petalled lotus.. a proposed nerve grid which surrounds the chest..
i forget the transmitters along heart
www.heartmath.org/research/...brain.html
circuit 7 on the other hand, as far as i am concerned, involves a higher freqeuncy oscillation along the pineal and pituitary glands..probably hard to measure but definite corpus callosum... there is osmething goin on in the pineal with endogenous dmt-pinolin
not sure about 8
but that's about the extent of my knowledge..
i read that thc helps shut down pyrimidine proteins in the brain to bypass an electrical sensory filter...

Re: Intra-8-Circuit Inhibitors
Mon, November 5, 2007 - 3:18 PMMy guess is that Leary was probably high on ketamine, at the time, and is somewhat biased towards such, as he labels it circuit 8. I remember it as great material, but I think nndmt is the highest "circuit". Perfection, plain and simple...it gets no better. :)
